About The U.S.1 Project



The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is making improvements to US 1 from north of Kings Highway in St. Lucie County to south of Oslo Road in Indian River County, which began in the fall 2012.

Improvements being made as part of this project consist of milling (removing old asphalt) and resurfacing the roadway; widening the roadway from a four-lane roadway to a six-lane roadway from south of the bridge in Indian River County to Oslo Road; new bridge construction; construction of new sidewalk on the west side of US 1 from the Cypress Bay Mobile Home Park to just south of Oslo Road and on the east side of US 1 from the south approach of the bridge to just south of Oslo Road; construction of sound walls on the west side of US 1 in front of the Cypress Bay Mobile Home Park; upgraded traffic signals at US 1 and Highland Drive; construction of three ponds; drainage; and landscaping.
This project is expected to be complete in spring 2015.
