The purpose of this project was to increase capacity and improve safety by upgrading this section of SR 710, including the replacement of the Big John Monahan Bridge over St. Lucie Canal. The Bridge has a 55 foot vertical clearance and 100 foot horizontal clearance between the fender systems at the St Lucie Canal. The scope of the project also included new drainage system installation, bridge fender systems, landscaping and irrigation.
