Palm Beach Widening on Turnpike
This project consists of SR 91 Turnpike Mainline Widening from four and six lanes to six and eight lanes from north of SR 804 (Boynton Beach Boulevard) (milepost 87.1) to north of SR 802 (Lake Worth Road) (milepost 94.7). The typical section consists of one future express lane and three general tolled lanes in each direction. This project will realign the Turnpikes centerline to the west to prevent the proposed improvements from encroaching into the Florida Gas Transmission (FGT) facility specified width.
Additional features include the construction of a bulkhead wall along a section of the LWDD E-2W Canal bank, realignment of a section of the LWDD’s E-2E Canal, modifications to the Lake Worth Rd. interchange ramps, construction of a mainline All Electronic Toll (AET) gantry south of the existing Lantana Toll Plaza designed for the ultimate condition and partial removal/reconstruction of the middle portion of the existing Lantana Toll Plaza to accommodate six through lanes, with the remainder of ticket lanes (four in each direction) to remain in operation.
The project also includes bridge construction, bridge demolition, bridge widening, pile driving, major drainage, excavation/embankment, channel excavation, retaining wall systems, noise walls, fencing, guardrail, stabilization, optional base groups, structural asphalt, friction course, milling and resurfacing, signing and pavement markings including thermoplastic, lighting, ITS, traffic monitoring, curb/gutter, traffic railings, utility relocation work and other associated work.
